Artist statement
‘Am I Me Yet?’ is an ongoing photography project documenting my transition. I’m just at the beginning of my medical transition, having started in mid-2021. The aim of this project is to use my own daily reality to normalise trans bodies by showing aspects of transition rarely seen or talked about, such as body hair that is in the process of being removed. The series constantly addresses the question posed by the title, ‘Am I Me Yet?’. I am on a journey to finally live my life as the person I should have always been; but will that ever happen?
Artist Biography
Fantod is a non-binary transfeminine artist living and working in Glasgow. Their work is often autobiographical, exploring themes such as loss, anxiety and gender identity.
