SIMON TARRANT

Lockdown World 2020 - Oil on Glass

Artist Statement

His latest artwork 'Lockdown World' was created during a time of self isolation and uncertainty. Tarrant says, ”living and working as an artist is a precarious way of life, with bursts of intense creativity tempered by repeated cycles of vacillating. Continually pondering the timing and relevance of your work, feels unnervingly like a microcosm of the volatile and challenging world we live in, be it politically or as human beings coming to terms with our endangered ecology.” Tarrant’s colourful artwork explores the celestial micro and macrocosms of our world. Depicting nature through deep-sea views, luminous landscapes and interstellar imagery - Tarrant takes his inspiration from space, time and matter - illustrating that everything is one and that the universe connects all.
