VEILS is a project that explores the possibilities of closetedness and the rampant duality in conservative societies. In the project the subjects express forbidden sexualities while marinating anonymity, hiding in burqas; a religious garment that is notoriously associated with sexual-repression and victimization of Muslim women. VEILS questions the boundaries of religion, sex and the gender binary.

 

Noor de Noir (pseudonym) is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker who is mainly concerned with topics of religion and sexuality in the conservative Arab/Muslim world.
